UPRT Scholarship Winner 2022

Mesa, AZ – January 24, 2023:

Aviation Performance Solutions LLC (APS), the global leader in Upset Prevention and Recovery Training (UPRT), is pleased to announce that the 2022 APS UPRT Scholarship winner Emily Hogenson has completed her Professional Pilot UPRT course. With this new set of advanced pilot skills, Emily is not only equipped to recognize, prevent or recover from an aircraft upset, but she also has developed and refined advanced manual flight operations skills and overall airmanship, making her among the safest and most qualified of up-and-coming pilots.

Each year, APS awards the UPRT Scholarship to a deserving pilot currently in flight school or starting their professional aviation career. The course provides comprehensive training integrating academics and on-aircraft instruction to mitigate the risk of Loss of Control-Inflight (LOC-I), the number one cause of fatalities across all sectors of aviation.

Emily graduated with an aviation management major at LeTourneau University with a professional flight concentration and aircraft dispatch minor. Her impressive resume reflects the achievements and focus of a true safety champion who has, and will continue, to make a positive impact on the aviation community.

“I have been very fortunate in my aviation career to have extensive experience in the all-attitude environment.  Providing training to students like Emily offers me a chance to expose pilots to environments which many pilots never get to experience,” said Emily’s advanced instructor pilot Norm ‘DQ’ Dequier. “We can never be properly prepared to handle these environments without seeing them, and watching students like Emily rapidly understand the challenges of the environment and grasp the strategies to overcome them is very rewarding.”

“LOC-I is something that every pilot should prepare for by learning strategies to overcome it,” Emily related. “APS sets the standard for training pilots on the tactics needed to help mitigate these occurrences as well as solutions to recovering from unanticipated upsets. With knowledgeable and personable instructors, upset training with APS is something I would recommend every pilot should experience at least once and try to stay current by attending regularly!”
