These UPRT program refinements provide airlines’ elite pilots with targeted skills and knowledge designed to effectively prevent upset conditions from developing or, if an airplane upset develops beyond normal operating parameters, apply precise recovery actions to return the airliner to a stabilized condition in the heart of the flight envelope . The FAA requires all air carriers in the United States to augment their pilot training programs to address training unique to the UPRT domain to include stall, upset, and advanced handling conditions in response to mandates issued by US Congress in Public Law 111.216.
