RCMP Selects Aviation Performance Solutions as Upset Recovery Training Provider
The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) Selects Aviation Performance Solutions (APS) to Provide Upset Prevention and Upset Recovery Training (UPRT) Services as Part of its Advanced Pilot Training Program – Through Pilot Education and Skill Development, Effectively Delivered Upset Prevention and Recovery Training Mitigates Loss of Control in-Flight (LOC-I), the Leading Cause of the Crash-Related Fatalities in Commercial Aviation Worldwide over the Past 10 Years.
Mesa, Arizona (PRWEB) June 04, 2013 – The Air Services Branch of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), one of the largest fleet operators in Canada, announced today the selection of Aviation Performance Solutions LLC (APS) as its provider of its Upset Prevention and Recovery Training (UPRT) program. This training directly supports the RCMP mission statement of applying the highest principles of aviation safety to its professional pilot training and also in support of its peace and security focused flight operations.
“The RCMP Air Services Branch’s upset recovery initiative promotes knowledge and skills-based training along with each individual pilot’s discipline and responsibility as essential elements of aviation professionalism and safety,” said Gary Hartery, Chief Pilot – RCMP Air Services. “Loss of Control in Flight continues to be demonstrated as aviation’s most lethal threat to air safety. The RCMP’s commitment to providing our pilots, each tasked with the safety and security of our nation, with the industry’s most effective LOC-I mitigation training, is evidenced by our upset recovery training program commitment with APS.” This program provides initial upset recovery training academics and skill development to over 70 RCMP pilots primarily responsible for flying Pilatus PC-12s, De Havilland Twin Otters, and a variety of Cessna aircraft.
“As a team of combined Canadian and US aviation safety experts at APS, it is a great honor to work with Air Services Branch of the RCMP. The RCMP’s focus on reducing the threat of loss of control to further enhance it’s national peace and security mission is a powerful example of the importance upset recovery training plays in rounding each professional pilot’s skill set,” says Paul BJ Ransbury, president of Aviation Performance Solutions. “Prevention of the LOC-I threat must always be the dominant focus in effective upset recovery training as it is at APS. However, when faced with an unpreventable, severe flight condition beyond everyday experience thresholds, pilots must have the fundamental knowledge and practical skills necessary to recover the airplane to controlled flight amidst a developing high-stress time-critical airplane upset situation.”
