APS Instructor Pilot Randall Brooks recently renewed his Master CFI-Aerobatic accreditation through the Master Instructors LLC. The Master Certificated Flight Instructor accreditation is a requirement for all APS Upset Prevention & Recovery Training (UPRT) instructors.
ARLINGTON, TX – June 15, 2017 – APS is pleased to announce that Randall ‘Random’ Brooks, APS instructor pilot and VP of Training and Business Development, has renewed his Master Certificated Flight Instructor – Aerobatic accreditation through the Master Instructors LLC program. Mr. Brooks, now a 3-time Master CFI as well as SAFE and IAC member, has over 13 years experience in Upset Training and was previously a 13-year member of the aerobatic Red Baron Squadron. He has been delivering UPRT and aerobatic flight instruction with APS for five years. He first earned the national MCFI professional accreditation in 2013 and is one of only 155 worldwide to earn the credential two times.
To help put these achievements in their proper perspective, there are approximately 101,000 CFIs in the United States. Fewer than 800 of those aviation educators have achieved that professional distinction thus far. Twenty-three of the last National Flight Instructors of the Year, National FAASTeam Representatives of the Year, or National AMTs of the Year were Masters (see: http://www.GeneralAviationAwar
In the words of former FAA Administrator Marion Blakey, “The Master Instructor accreditation singles out the best that the right seat has to offer.”
APS requires all upset recovery instructor pilots to earn the MCFI-A accreditation as part of their training and ongoing career development. While APS instructors all have an extensive background in the all-attitude/all-envelope domain and additionally complete rigorous UPRT specific training as part of an industry-leading instructor qualification program, the MCFI-A offers an additional, objective qualification that sets APS instructors apart. ABOUT THE MASTER INSTRUCTOR DESIGNATION
The Master Instructor designation is a national accreditation recognized by the FAA. Candidates must demonstrate an ongoing commitment to excellence, professional growth, and service to the aviation community, and must pass a rigorous evaluation by a peer Board of Review. The process parallels the continuing education regimen used by other professionals to enhance their knowledge base while increasing their professionalism. Designees are recognized as outstanding aviation educators for not only their excellence in teaching, but for their engagement in the continuous process of learning — both their own, and their students’. The designation must be renewed biennially and significantly surpasses the FAA requirements for renewal of the candidate’s flight instructor certificate.
