Up and coming pilot Alyssa Bodwin, recipient of the 2023 Upset Prevention and Recovery Training (UPRT) scholarship from Aviation Performance Solutions (APS), has successfully completed this advanced safety training course to mitigate the number one fatal threat every pilot faces, Loss of Control In-flight (LOC-I).
Mesa, AZ – June 30, 2023:
Aviation Performance Solutions LLC (APS), the global leader in Upset Prevention and Recovery Training (UPRT), is pleased to announce that 2023 APS UPRT Scholarship winner Alyssa Bodwin has completed her Professional Pilot UPRT course. Having successfully mastered this advanced aviation training, Alyssa is now among elite pilots who are equipped to recognize, prevent or recover from an aircraft upset. In addition, she has developed and refined advanced manual flight operations skills and overall airmanship, making her among the safest and most qualified of up and coming pilots.
Each year, APS awards the UPRT Scholarship to a deserving pilot currently in flight school or starting their professional aviation career. The course provides comprehensive training integrating academics and on-aircraft instruction to mitigate the risk of Loss of Control-Inflight (LOC-I), the number one cause of fatalities across all sectors of aviation.
Alyssa is set to graduate this year from the Dakota Aerospace Foundation with a degree in Airway Science Technology, flight emphasis. She has her Commercial License and is looking forward to completing her CFI training. With her ambition and dedication to aviation, and aviation safety in particular, Alyssa is a rising star in the aviation industry and we look forward to seeing her do great things in the future.
“Alyssa was well prepared, enthusiastic and grasped the UPRT concepts quickly and easily.” said her advanced UPRT instructor. He added, “I love to work with pilots that have little to no all-attitude, all-envelope experience and, in a matter of days, give them the knowledge, skills, and resiliency of someone who has years of all-attitude experience. Alyssa was one such pilot.”
“Getting up in the airplane and doing UPRT was eye-opening and allowed me to see in real life how the plane reacts to my control inputs. I learned how to stay in control no matter what the condition of the airplane,” Alyssa related. “I would say to any future scholarship winner or UPRT participant — get ready for the best three days of your life!”
