Overcoming Disorientation

While academic and simulator training are both a critical part of Upset Prevention and Recovery Training (UPRT), the on-aircraft portion of the training addresses the critical human factors elements that affect pilots immensely during an escalating in-flight situation. APS graduate Michael Berry, a Gulfstream 500 & 280 pilot, discusses the disorientation pilots can feel upon finding themselves in an upset situation, and how UPRT helps pilots gain the experience needed to overcome disorientation and learn skills necessary to prevent or overcome Loss of Control In-flight (LOC-I).
