Mesa, Arizona (PRWEB) December 3, 2013 – New air carrier regulations recently released by the FAA require airlines to begin delivering enhanced training in Stalls and Upset Recovery maneuvering. Aviation Performance Solutions LLC (APS), a specialized professional pilot flight training organization, announces its enhanced Simulator Instructor Upset Delivery Training (formerly called Train-the-Trainer Jet Upset Simulator Instructor Program) for FAA-regulated airlines. This APS program is uniquely designed to assist airlines and Part 142 flight simulation training center instructors to comprehensively comply with Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs) section 121.423 requiring Extended Envelope Training for airline pilots.
The FAA’s recent revisions to Part 121 subsections N and 0, are a result of the enactment of Public Law 111-216 Section 208 by US Congress in August 2010. The Airline Safety and Federal Aviation Administration Extension Act of 2010, enacted by the US Congress requires Part 121 air carriers to provide crewmembers with improved upset recovery and stall training in a particular make, model, and series of aircraft.
Extended Envelope Training – Train-the-Trainer Overview
The APS Jet Upset Simulator Instructor Program integrates iPad-based knowledge tools and gives Part 121 instructors a broad understanding of the specific teachings and methodologies of the industry-endorsed Airplane Upset Recovery Training Aid (AURTA) and other regulatory resources. This APS program ultimately evaluates instructional performance and prepares instructors to develop their own type-specific regulatory-compliant stall and upset recovery training courses. The academic and practical training requirements of the Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) Certification Training Program specific to stall / upset prevention and recovery training, are also addressed. The ATP Certification Training Program goes into effect in August of next year. Effectively delivered, stall and AURTA-compliant instruction to aircrews mitigates the Loss of Control In-flight (LOC-I) threat to the traveling public. According to a July 2013 report by Boeing, LOC-I is the leading cause of crash-related fatalities in commercial aviation worldwide over the past 10 Years.
“APS has been developing upset recovery training solutions for professional pilots and training departments for over a decade. Their simulator instructor program is structured to meet the needs of Part 121 Section 121.423 and includes academics and techniques that instructors can effectively teach to their students. This not only meets the FAA Part 121 N and O crewmember training mandate but gives FAA-regulated air carriers a turnkey resource to help them develop their own solutions specific to their various fleets of airplanes,” said John Cox, President of Safety Operating Systems, the former Executive Air Safety Chairman for the Air Line Pilots Association, a member of the Airplane Upset Recovery Training Aid team, and an International Air Transport Association trained Airline Auditor. “The integration of specialized iPad-based academic training, on-aircraft upset training and enhanced full flight simulator upset prevention training, is the most effective way for instructors to lower the risk of a loss of control event in pilots they train”.
