Paul BJ Ransbury, APS CEO
Captain Paul Weston ‘BJ’ Ransbury, a retired RCAF officer and CEO of Aviation Performance Solutions (APS), has led APS since 2005, dedicating his career to enhancing aviation safety. With a focus on Upset Prevention and Recovery Training (UPRT), his leadership has positioned APS at the vanguard of global efforts to combat Loss of Control In-flight (LOC-I), the most significant threat to air safety. Ransbury’s unique background, encompassing roles as a military fighter pilot, airline pilot, and Master Certified Flight Instructor (MCFI), equips him with a profound understanding of aviation's complexities.
Under his guidance, APS has championed developing and disseminating UPRT best practices, contributing significantly to the international aviation community’s understanding and mitigation of LOC-I risks. Ransbury's commitment extends beyond APS; his work with the National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) Safety Committee and his recognition, including the Dr. Tony Kern Professionalism in Aviation Award, underscore his influence on industry-wide safety standards and professional integrity.
Ransbury's academic accomplishments, with a BSc in Honors Mathematics & Physics and MBA studies, reflect his lifelong commitment to learning and excellence. Residing in Queen Creek, Arizona, with his family, Ransbury’s passions—flying, astrophysics, and outdoor activities—mirror the dedication, curiosity, and leadership he brings to the aviation safety mission.
