The A4 enhancement allows pilots to transfer upset prevention and recovery skills learned in the core upset training program to a high altitude, high speed aircraft using the A4, a jet that is safe for jet upset recovery courses. While core Upset Prevention and Recovery Training (UPRT) provided in the Extra 300 and type specific simulators allows pilots to effectively and safely develop upset prevention and recovery skills fully transferrable to their specific aircraft type, Lindsey expresses that hands-on recovery training at high altitude provides a whole new perspective on upset recovery.
