David ‘Zog’ Carroll

DOTHAN APS DEPUTY SENIOR UPRT INSTRUCTOR

Back to Team

Upon retiring from his 25-year Air Force career, Mr. Carroll wasted no time in immersing himself in the civil aviation instruction culture. He rapidly earned his CFI, CFII, MEI, and Advanced Ground Instructor (AGI) ratings. He became a member of the Society of Aviation Flight Educators (SAFE) and the International Aerobatic Club (IAC). As a testament to his commitment and professionalism as an instructor, Mr. Carroll achieved accreditation as a Master CFI – Aerobatic three times. To help put this achievement in proper perspective, there are approximately 97,000 CFIs in the United States. Fewer than 800 of those have achieved Master CFI distinction thus far, and worldwide only 82 have earned the credential three (3) times. David Carroll is one of only 32 worldwide to earn aerobatic accreditation.

David’s previous roles at APS include Advanced Instructor Pilot, Simulator Instructor, Upgrade Instructor, Check Airman, and Director of Training Programs. He stepped away from APS for a time to focus on educational and personal goals. Now David has returned to APS to provide oversight, quality assurance, and instructor upgrade training for UPRT and the Deputy Senior UPRT Instructor at the CAE Dothan Training Center.

David has accumulated nearly 6,000 hours in fighters, trainers, and civil aircraft, including over 2,300 instructor flight hours.
