Job Information

The Director of Maintenance (DOM) position is primarily dedicated to safely and effectively managing the maintenance team, and our fleet of airplanes, at APS headquarters in Arizona. The DOM is a critical position responsible for ensuring airworthiness to support our busy schedule while maintaining strict compliance with FAA regulations and best practices. In addition to being a key member of the APS leadership team, the DOM must embrace diligence, commitment, accountability and a positive, constructive approach to project management, open communication, inventory, expense control, inspection timeliness, and ongoing professional development.


Applicants must have an A&P license with Inspection Authorization (IA) preferably with over 5 years GA aircraft maintenance experience in a repair station environment as well as experience in working on piston engine aircraft (Lycoming Engines preferred) and turbofan engines (P&W JT15D preferred). Candidate must have experience leading a team of at least 5 technicians for 3 years or more.

  • Schedule will require irregular hours and shifts
  • DOT drug and alcohol testing required


Director of Maintenance for a fleet Extra 300L aerobatic aircraft and SIAI Marchetti S.211 jet training aircraft supporting the world’s foremost provider of Upset Prevention and Recovery Training for professional pilots. A high-level overview of duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • 3 years previous experience managing A&P Mechanics and aircraft servicing personnel
  • Aircraft Inspections
  • Aircraft Repair and Overhaul
  • Aircraft Evaluation and Procurement
  • Manufacturer Liaison
  • Regulatory Compliance (FAA, EASA, ICAO, OSHA, EPA etc…)
  • Vendor relations
  • Supply Chain Management
  • Research and Development
  • Quality Control
  • Continuous Quality Improvement
  • Interact professionally with corporate clients as necessary
  • Safety conscious individual with a “can-do” attitude and a high standard of professionalism, reliability and accountability is a must.
  • Must be physically fit and willing to work outside during all seasons
  • Outgoing personality with emphasis on teamwork, customer satisfaction and company growth
  • Understands the importance of communication structures within organizations and follows those structures to accomplish duties, projects, and business development opportunities.

Maintenance Responsibilities

  • Manage maintenance team effectively and efficiently.
  • Must have own tools
  • Aircraft servicing (fuel, oil, cockpits, cleaning inside and outside, detailing)
  • Scheduled maintenance (25 hr, 50 hr, and 100 hr inspections)
  • Oil and filter changes
  • Tire changes, brake servicing
  • Avionics troubleshooting
  • Familiarization with regulatory compliance such as FAR's and airworthiness standards
  • Additional non-routine work and skill requirements to include composite work, sheet metal, fabric repair, paint touch up, engine changes, magneto overhaul and welding
  • Ability to follow manufacturer recommendations and company policy
  • Perform additional duties assigned by management

Physical requirements

  • Ability to assist in pushing out 1400 lb. aircraft
  • Daily multiple trips up & down stairs
  • High heat tolerance for outside work
