Original PRWeb Release: APS Releases White Paper on the Airplane Upset Prevention and Recovery Training Aid – Revision 3
Orlando, FL – April 19, 2018 – Aviation Performance Solutions LLC (APS), the global leader in Upset Prevention and Recovery Training (UPRT), announced today at the World Aviation Training Summit (WATS) the release of a new white paper on the Airplane Upset Prevention and Recovery Training Aid. Written by industry recognized experts in UPRT, the white paper evaluates the changes made between the Airplane Upset Recovery Training Aid – Revision 2 (AURTA – Rev 2) and the Airplane Upset Prevention and Recovery Training Aid – Revision 3 (AUPRTA – Rev 3) and analyzes the respective strengths and weaknesses of both documents.
The AUPRTA – Rev 2 is an airline industry resource focused on pilot training information and techniques which can help to mitigate the threat of Loss of Control In-flight (LOC-I), the number one cause of fatalities across all sectors of aviation. AURTA – Rev 2 was updated to the Airline Upset Prevention and Recovery Training Aid – Revision 3 (AUPRTA – Rev 3) in an attempt to expand the scope to include regional jets and turboprop aircraft. At the same time, an effort was made to streamline the content and emphasize prevention of upsets in addition to recovery. Certain essential elements pertaining to airline UPRT instructor training and maneuvering exercises were eliminated in AUPRTA – Rev 3. While the additions in the AUPRTA – Rev 3 contribute important additional information in the comprehensive training needed to fully mitigate the risk of LOC-I, the attempt to streamline resulted in the loss of key elements regarding the importance of airplane upset recovery.
“The Airplane Upset Prevention and Recovery Training Aid – Revision 3 has significant deficiencies that should be highlighted, “ says Capt. John Cox, CEO of Safety Operating Systems, “We have seen this ill-advised push to focus on prevention at the exclusion of recovery in the past. As was done back then, and must be done again with Revision 3, we must continue to give emphasis to the critical importance of training both prevention and recovery equally or we shall learn this lesson again with continuing and unnecessary fatal Loss of Control In-flight tragedies.”
