BASIC EXTRA 300L
CHECKOUT COURSE
|
|
|
|
This course assumes the participant has
significant tailwheel and
high-performance experience. If this is
you then you've come to the right course
regardless of the extent of your
aerobatic experience. The program is
laid out in a manner that allows the
participant to mix and match traffic
pattern work and aerobatics.
With over
10,000 instructional hours in the Extra
300, we know what it takes to be safe
while enjoying the rewarding
world of high-performance aerobatics
flying. Whether your intentions are
recreational aerobatic flying, competition or perhaps
even the
ultimate in aerobatics flying, air show
performances, APS will put you on the
right track for success,
satisfaction and life-long safety.

"Coming from a background of both
aerobatics and lots of tailwheel flying,
this course was perfect. The instructors
will spend as much time as you like in any
area you chose. I initially thought I'd have
a tough time with the aircraft on landing
but it turned out to be easy for me.
Mid-stream I switched my focus to advanced
spin training which I found to fascinating
and fun."

Description
|
|
This 3-Day 5-Mission customized course of
training is broken down into two phases;
Aircraft Traffic Pattern Training and Safety Training. Combined, the outlines
below give you a general overview of what to
expect during your 3-days of advanced flight
training at
APS. This can be a demanding program both
mentally and physically. Please be sure to
allow yourself sufficient time for rest
and study after each flying day. |
|
PHASE 1: AIRCRAFT TRAFFIC PATTERN
TRAINING |
Days: 1, 2 & 3
Mixed with Phase 2 missions.
|
As with any new aircraft, pilots are
concerned about the primary operation of
the aircraft around the airport. At APS
we specialize in Extra 300L checkouts
and have lots of proven tips and
techniques to allow you to master the
300 in minimum time. This phase of the
training can be accomplished on its own
or intermixed with Phase 2 (below).
Typically, pilot prefer to mix in
traffic pattern work with aerobatic
training to give a more rounded approach
to this high-performance aerobatic
machine. We'll review (as necessary or
desired):

PHASE 1: SAFETY TRAINING |
Days: 1, 2 & 3
3-Day 5-Mission Safety Course:
Emergency Maneuver Training
|
As an aerobatic pilot it is critically
important to realize that safety
training must absolutely come first and
be the priority before
focusing on aerobatics flying
exclusively. With this first series of
training sessions, we integrate a full
tailwheel checkout program and
high-performance handling course. In fact, as in every
endeavor requiring expertise, consistently
re-enforcing the fundamental principles, basic
aerobatics maneuver execution and
botched maneuver recovery techniques
must remain a priority throughout your
aerobatic career. This is true regardless of the level
of flying you aspire to or ultimately achieve. In
addition to botched maneuver recovery,
the aerobatic maneuvers included in this
segment of your training consists of the
entry, execution and recovery techniques
of the following maneuvers; loop,
aileron roll, inverted flight, split-s,
cuban eight, immelmann, hammerhead,
upright spin, inverted spin, aggravated
spin modes to include accelerated flat
spins. |
