Opened in 2013, APS Texas was established to provide a middle-US alternative for APS flight training operations. APS Texas capitalizes on the ease of travel to the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) and access to the simulator resources of the CAE Dallas SimuFlite Training Center. APS Texas provides the same standardized training and high-quality principles of all APS locations, and the staff pride themselves on professionalism and their Texas-style hospitality!

About Our Facility

APS Texas is located at the Arlington Municipal Airport (KGKY), conveniently located 19 miles south of the DFW airport in Arlington, Texas, midway between the cities of Dallas and Ft. Worth. The location south of DFW Airport allows access to maneuvering airspace clear of DFW arrivals and departures, and provides easy access to the CAE Dallas SimuFlite Training Center.

Home to multiple flight schools and corporate flight operations, the Arlington Municipal Airport is a towered airport under the Class B airspace of DFW. The APS Texas facility is the only airport with two tilt-rotor aircraft conducting regular flight operations. Home to Bell Helicopter’s Flight Test facilities, the only civilian (N-numbered) V-22 Osprey is based here in Texas, on loan from the U.S. military to Bell for flight test activity. Also based on the field is the smaller Augusta-Westland 609 Tilt Rotor aircraft, which aims to be the first tilt rotor aircraft to achieve civilian certification.

Arlington, Texas calls itself home to playing facilities of both the Dallas Cowboys football team (AT&T Stadium) and baseball’s Texas Rangers (Globe Life Park in Arlington). Both stadiums are near the Six Flags Over Texas amusement park and multiple dining choices and hotel accommodations.

Upset training courses teach every participant to recover from a wide diversity of in-flight upset situations or flight envelope excursions. Most importantly, the APS Texas training programs are focused on promoting recognition and avoidance through in-flight and simulator training integrated with a thorough theoretical understanding of the aerodynamics involved with each potential flight condition. To accomplish this, pilots are immersed into the world of unusual attitude and uncommon flight envelope conditions, while instilling participants with effective recognition, avoidance, and recovery capabilities.

The entire team at APS Texas is devoted to making your flight training session an exciting, memorable highlight. From the moment you make your first contact with APS to the actual flight and beyond, you’ll be in the hands of professionals. Each instructor pilot’s professional flight experience spans a highly specialized spectrum of aviation that uniquely qualifies them as the ideal training providers. All have extensive experience in general aviation, aerobatic maneuvering, military instruction, technologically advanced aircraft, and commercial and/or transport category flight operations.

We look forward to flying with you!
