The Alpha Jet Upset Training enhancement provides a transition to the high performance operating environment in a stage between the SIAI-Marchetti S211 and the A-4 Skyhawk training platforms.
The Alpha Jet is a tandem-seat twin-engine turbojet military training aircraft, equipped with a state-of-the-art Martin Baker ejection seat and modernized avionics suite to support the corporate flight deck look and feel. As a professional pilot, a lot of time is spent above FL300 and/or .7 Mach. The ability for pilots to practice Upset Prevention and Recovery Training (UPRT) concepts in their actual flight regime allows pilots see how core UPRT skills are transferable to high performance jet aircraft. Building on the core skills learned in a base training program, the Alpha Jet enhancement takes UPRT skills to the ultimate environment where they are commonly called upon.
Among other upset conditions, the high altitude stall is a critical real-world scenario that all professional pilots should experience. The moderately swept wing platform of the Alpha Jet provides low, medium and high altitude handling characteristics that are representative of swept wing business jet aircraft.
The importance of any training platform, whether an aircraft or a simulator, is providing transferable lessons that are applicable to the aircraft you fly. APS instructor pilots are experts in using a refined flight profile to highlight the important concepts and techniques that are pertinent and relevant to your airplane.
